A Brief introduction to CBCM:
Camps Bay Community Medics (CBCM) was established in 1998 by 2
locals, Jarred Rose and Warren Furneaux, who identified that the
response of Emergency Medical Services was lacking in the area. In
a medical emergency minutes can make the difference and the medical
response in South Africa, although highly proficient, was not
capable of meeting international standards of having medical
personnel at your door within 10 minutes. With the advent of CBCM
this response time was achieved and over the years has made that
critical difference for countless residents and visitors to Camps
Bay. In fact the statistics have indicated an average response time
of 8 minutes during 2010.
The paramedics that respond to your emergency are all volunteers
with medical qualifications ranging from Basic to Advanced Life
Support. These volunteers are registered with the Health
Professions Council of South Africa and as such are held to the
highest standards of pre-hospital emergency medical care.
Since 1998 CBCM has grown from 2 founding members to a 20 strong
team of highly dedicated volunteers who give of their time and
expertise to ensure you receive a professional and rapid
response in your time of crisis.
